For 1999 a multitude of recalls were done from all over the US. Recall issues were issued to concerning states. Not all problems that occurred would affect all the Malibu's released that year. Some would concern only the batch or group that was manufactured at a certain time. Like some of them would be delivered to a certain area and those batches would have the same problem.

These are due from the state of the parts which were used for that certain group manufactured from the same assembly line. Some of those problems concerned the air filter, some lights condensed, damages on the catalytic converters, steering - the outer tire rods needed replacement, Oil/coolant leak in the intake manifold, fuel gauge needle reset procedure on the instruments, rear compartment molding became loose or broken, the charging system and loads more. When this occurs the Chevy Malibu would be recalled by the dealers and the problem would be accorded to free of charge.
