2000 Chevrolet Malibu
The 2000 Chevrolet Malibu presents itself this year
with more power and a refreshed appearance. A V6 engine is now standard
for all trims. Popularly known for its combination of comfort,
quietness, practicality and affordability, the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu
holds out on its own. Even if it had to compete with Americas best
selling cars made from Japanese manufacturers, this practical car
sold very well last year taking a nice chunk out of its markets
share.
The Malibu comes in two trims, base and LS. Both come standard with a 3.1-liter
V6 engine that replaces last year's 3.1-liter V6 of a different design and has
increased power. Even if its designs are simple, the 2000 Malibu is not about
looks or attraction. It's about practicality. It aims straight for affordability
and has cut corners only in its design not in its reliability and durability.
This just makes the Malibu's design more long lasting than trendier ones. Separate
steel subframes for the fore and aft ends shield the cabin and its inhabitants
from engine vibration and from ruthless bumps. Impressive is how well Chevrolet
has damped wind noise at high speeds with little touches like recessed door handles
and a special windshield seal. The Malibu drives light and agile. Its steering
reacts quickly in hard-cornering situations. Overall, the Malibu rewards the driver
with good feedback and sporty, predictable handling response.
