2001 Chevrolet Malibu Recall

Prominent problem that occurred for this year was a repeat of the Turn signal/hazard
light problem that occurred the year before. Apparently some of the parts used
from the previous year found its way back in the assembly line and was fitted
to the present model. In a certain number of Malibu's, they may have hazard warning
switches that may experience solder joint cracking caused by rapid temperature
transitions and the soldering process. If solder joint cracking occurs and results
in an open circuit the turn signal/hazard lamps become inoperative.
Without these, a driver may not show his intent for turning and may result in
an accident. Other recalls were done on a much smaller scale and was not issued
officially by the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration. Some involved
the seat belts hinges, air intakes, manifolds and the wheels. They were of minute
detail and recall were easily done and the problem was remedied by bringing the
Malibu of the certain model and check ups and replacements were done.
